TRANSPORT OF 4 STS CRANES TO FREEPORTProject SummaryLate 2025, a total of 4 used ship-to-shore (STS) cranes were transported in two voyages from Norfolk, VA, to Freeport, the Bahamas, using the DONGBANG GIANT NO 2 and the ZHONG YU 188. The first two STS cranes were rolled on over the DONGBANG GIANT NO 2 stern using SPMTs and steel Ro/Ro ramps. Once on deck, the STS cranes were rolled into their final position and lowered onto support rails. Seafastening consisted of wheel stoppers and roll/pitch bars. In Freeport, the cranes were unlashed and rolled off over the stern. The second set of two STS cranes were rolled on over the side of the ZHONG YU 188, rotated, and rolled into their final position and lowered onto support rails for seafastening. After arrival in Freeport, the cranes were unlashed, rolled aft, and rotated and rolled off over the side, and lowered onto the dock rails for recommissioning.
